Until I completed high school, I grew up in a small industrial town called Neyveli, which is about 200 kilometers south of Madras (Chennai). Dad was an engineer with the only game in town--NLC. K-12 was at Jawahar Higher Secondary School (JHSS), which provided me with a fantastic foundation. Then I went to Coimbatore, where I earned my undergraduate degree in electrical engineering. Didn't care for the college nor for engineering. Spent short stints at HRL, Adyar Park, and Indian Oxygen, before coming to USC for graduate studies. Lived and worked in Bakersfield for a long time. Am now a faculty member at Western Oregon University
